INTERNATIONAL HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL 2013

The Giant Balloons

Once again February preapred for another exciting event in our country. The much awaited Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival 2013 in Clark Pampanga, February 21-24,2013. It was held at Omni Aviation Complex, inside Clark Special Economic Zone in Pampanga.

Early as January I already reserve a slot for this event with my colleagues in IHG in St. Michael Explorer Travel Agency, that's how excited I am to see this event. But a week before the event they told me that the trip for Saturday will be cancelled as they were not able to meet the total capacity for the van. I began to panic but did inquire immediately to other travel agencies. Big thank's to Ms. Mavic from Oragon Travels as she reserved us  slots for 23 February.

Friday, before our trip, it's also raining hard in Manila, and i watched for the news and even texted my friends in Pampanga if how's the weather there. For that Friday, only two balloons flew due to strong winds and heavy rains. Urggghh!!! praying weather will be good on Saturday.

I left at home early 12 midnight as the call time in Ayala is 1:00 A.M. It's still raining softly that night. Roads were wet. But according to Ms. Mavic weather will be good in the Morning according to the forecast.

At about 1:15 in the morning we left Makati and arrived there early as about 4:30. Since it was too early, the can stopped near the area and we took our early morning snacks (good thing i brought sandwiches and hotdogs). That saved our tummy!!!

Inflating of balloons started at 6:00 in the morning. After just 30 minutes balloons were started to flew. Sad that the Giant Sun Balloon from DOT were not able to flew as it has a slight damage on its rays.

After all balloons flown. It was followed by the Philippine Flag Jump together with the Philippine National Anthem background performed by the military sky divers. Then next was the Malaysian, Spain and Australia Paragliding Exhibition. And of course the show that amaze all the viewers was the Aerobatic Show performed by Capt. Meynard Halili. Awesome and unbelievable aerobatic stunts, truly world class. So with the Breitling Jet Team Aerobatic Exhibition with adrenaline exhibitions that will surely wowed the viewers. Truly amazing!!!

A 250 pesos entrance fee per person allows you to stay in the event site for the whole day. You can purchase tickets at the gate, at any SM Ticketnet outlet, at ROX Bonifacio Global City, or at ROX Marquee Mall Clark.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM MANILA

1. Ride a bus going north and get off at Dau, Pampanga. Fare is around Php 200.00 pesos.
2. From the bus station, take a jeepney by the highway that will bring you to Clark Main gate.
3. Ride a jeep to the main gate. Fare is Php 8.00 pesos.
4. From the main gate, ride a jeep again to the venue. Fare is Php 10.00 pesos.
