PAOAY LA PAZ SAND DUNES ADVENTURE

Who would thought that a tropical country like the Philippines has an amazing dry landscape which is now a famous destination for travelers who love sand adventures.

Surprisingly, there is one desert that can be found on the northern part of the island of Luzon. Particularly, in La Paz, Ilocos Norte, you can find a 52 sq. mile desert landscape of combined beach and sand dunes.

My desire to visit this place started last year when I saw one of my facebook friend posted photos from Paoay Sand Dunes. At first I asked him if he already migrated Dubai or Saudi. But then surprisingly, he answered me it is just in Ilocos.Whaaaattt?

I wasn't really expecting that we have this kind of attraction. So I started to inquire from travel agencies about Ilocos Tour.

I was raised in Bohol. And most of the places I traveled were in Visayas and Mindanao. So this will be  my first time to explore Luzon, particularly Northern Luzon.

This is the highlight of our Day 1 Ilocos Tour. We arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon. Perfect sunny weather for an ultimate Sand Dunes adventure. Rate is Php 2500 for 1 hr minimum 4-5persons  (Sand Boarding and 4x4 Ride.

Thank's to my very good friend, Rachelle Mateo "etche" for inviting me for this travel.

HOW TO GET THERE

How to get to Ilocos Norte from Manila

By Bus

Take a bus bound for Laoag. Travel time is 10-12 hours, so I would recommend a night trip for this. Several bus companies such as Partas, GV Florida Transport, Dominion Bus Lines, Philippine Rabbit and Fariñas Transit have regular trips that will take you directly to Laoag City. Check out their websites for the trip schedules.

By Plane

Take a direct flight from Manila to Laoag via Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines. Travel time is about an hour. Flights are usually at night, so better make the necessary adjustments on your itinerary.
